New Bedroom

For some time ago I mentioned I wanted to redo my bedroom and I also shared a few pictures with you after I started my project. I have been fixin with things in there and we're almost done, there are a few more touch ups on our new crown molding and then I think I'm pretty much done. My friend Carro asked me the other week about the room and I think I'm now ready to show it off.

I have a few "before pictures" to show first:

Okay, so here are the "after-pictures":

here is our bed. I only really changed the pillows. Some old IKEA pillows, two new ones from Homegoods and I made the long one in front with some old burlap I had lying around and some old pillows

this is our old dresser, I would like to have a white one, but I'm afraid painting it would be too much of a hassle. I changed the hardware on a few places and I think it's just fine. The mirror was given to me from a friend who had it lying in her basement collecting dust. I painted it white.

I framed the embroidery made by my mother in an IKEA frame I had forgotten I had. On the bottom is a wedding pic from our wedding.

close up on all the pillows. The headboard is made by my hubby out of some old windows from his parents house.

one of my favorite dresses from Anthropologie hanging on display.

That is it people. Now it is time to share your home with me, okay? Do it!

Sleep tight my friends

Mys Kväll

Yes, that is the Swedish language lesson for tonight. It basically means "cozy night". I'm trying to teach my husband about "mysa", or being cozy, as it's called in English. Maybe it's the cold and dark winters in Sweden that has made us Swedes so obsessed with being cozy. It usually includes a couch with a blanket, something good to eat and a lot of tea lights lit. I love it and I'm trying to teach my husband the art of "mysa", or being cozy.. Tonight we made a bunch of yummy foods to eat and lit a candle and "myste" in the couch. :)

we had some brie cheese, veggies and ranch dip, spinach and artichoke dip and plain ole' crackers!

The coziness now continue in front of the MTV Video Music Awards.

Navarre Beach

We're back in town! We have been for a few days but I have been so very busy I have not had the time to do anything but work. We had a great time! The weather was so nice and the place we stayed at was beautiful. Here are some pictures from our little weekend trip:

view from the 16th floor

view to our left and the pier

the longest pier on the gulf coast

early in the morning there were a few dolphins swimming close by. We also saw jelly fish and a sea turtle.

Have a great weekend y'all!

Dala horse

So, what have I been doing all week? Well, I've been sewing and doing a lot of embroidery. I'm working on some Christmas ornaments (I know, it's only August, but I'm planning to do something with them and need A LOT of them so why not start early?) that I'm hoping will resemble the Swedish Dala horse, SO that is pretty much all I've been doing. I've enjoyed it though and like the way they have turned out.

Other than that, not much is happening. Well, we're taking off tomorrow morning to go to Florida again. My mother in law is turning 60 and she has decided she want to spend a week at the beach so we're coming with them for a few days, until Monday, to celebrate with her. It'll be me, Christian, his two sisters and his parents of course. It'll be nice with a few days at the beach.

This is Navarre Beach, I think that those buildings in the background may be the condo's we're staying at. On the 16th (!) floor... Not too excited about that one, but it'll be fine.

Over and out, have a great weekend everybody!!

Fall Vegetables

I know, I'm talking about fall already, but it is time to start thinking about what to plant for the fall and the colder weather that is around the corner. I've decided on a few veggies and today I started planting some of them inside in a little "mini-greenhouse" to hopefully have them grow a little before we transplant it out to the garden when all our current vegetables are done for the season. I put down Kale, Broccoli and Cabbage today and put it in our bedroom window and I'm so excited to see them grow (hopefully!).

My planting station: seeds, mini green house and some water..

All the seeds..

water to make the dirt "pop" up!

all "popped" up!

..and in with the seeds!

let's hope for some sun! :)
Other than that, I'm fixin' with things at the house. The dining room is the focus for the day.. I just keep switching from room to room don't I? Anyhow, have a great rest of the day!

from garden to table

Yesterday I went to the garden after being away the whole weekend and we got some new exciting veggies. Some peppers and a big tomato. We have actually been robbed on many big tomatoes lately by a stubborn bird that seems to get into our plants. We have tried to put up netting over the plants but with no luck. We finally got one before the bird snagged it up for dinner and there is one more as of right now that is still on the vine, so I'm heading over there tomorrow to make sure we're the ones who snag it up this time. We used the tomato tonight for our dinner when we made BLT's. So yummy! Recipe to follow.

Yesterdays harvest.
BLT + Avocado Recipe:

Bacon (the B in BLT)
Lettuce (the L in BLT)
Tomato (the T in BLT)
Avocado
Bread
Mayonnaise (optional)

Fry the bacon and let it sit on a paper towel so that the grease can soak up. Rip some lettuce of an Iceberg lettuce head. Slice a big tomato. Slice the Avocado. Roast the bread. Put some mayonnaise on the slices of bread.

homegrown tomatoes and delicious avocado

The crispier the better!

The finished product. It may not sound like much, but it is so great! TRY IT!

That is it for now, enjoy your evening!
