Love

It is strange how much you can love someone. And how much someone can comfort just by being there on the phone or just knowing that the person you love is thinking of you. I'm of course talking about my husband. He is all the way over in Texas but he still knows how to comfort me when lightning and thunder comes to town. Yes, the weather outside my window is not my favorite. At 5 it turned black outside and the wind picked up and lightning and thunder could be seen and heard. There were also tornado warnings, but I think we're safe now.

Pillow progress

I've now finished knitting both squares for the pillow. I think I'm going to make an inner pillow and stuff that one so I can put that inside the knitted pillow. I'm afraid the stuffing may come out of the knitted one. We'll see ehat I can come up with.

Other than that I'm doing nothing. I worked this morning which was though when my cold seem to have grabbed a hold of me again.

Here are some pictures from last night...
I started the second square last night

I had to watch the Oscars

Made homemade pizza, with chicken, cheese and Red Hot Sauce

Garden work!

Just came home from a trip to the in-laws and our garden. I can't believe it but the onion I put down a few weeks ago, actually, I can look in my calender and see that it I put them down on Feb 9th, has started to sprout! I could not be more excited! I feel like a real gardener! :) They are coming up in pretty rows too, which looks nice.
I made my own "labels" out of rocks and some paint

We have lettuce down too, which as I mentioned before, has grown. We also put in carrots last weekend but I bet it'll take awhile for them to sprout and come up.

I went there to put in the Marigolds I bought so this is how that turned out. We've made our own little bed from rocks Christian picked from the woods/creek.
Pretty Marigolds to keep unwanted animals and such away
A gardener has to know how warm/cold it is outside.. :)
I then drove to the mall and stopped in at Old Navy's and bought some clothes. Now I'm in the couch waiting for a hockey game at 5pm and then the Oscars. Nice mix!

old lady?

So it seems yes. I dropped off Christian at the airport around 6 and then went straight to the craft store and bought yarn and knitting needles. So all night last night I sat in my couch and knitted! Yes, I'm such an old lady. I found a tutorial on you tube on how to knit and it actually worked! I'm making a pillow, at least that is the plan.

New day today, I've been knitting all morning. :) I'm going to get ready soon and go to our garden. Our compost at home is full so I need to go and dump it in our actual outdoor compost. I'm also going to plant some Marigolds outside of our garden to keep unwanted animals away. Then later today is the Oscars! :)

Bye Bye

Christian and me are about to go outside to spend some time together before I have to take him to the airport. He is leaving to go to Houston, Texas today and I'm not terribly excited. He'll be back on Tuesday so it'll be a short trip but still...

Last night I made the shrimp pasta and it was yummy! Here are some pictures:

Moviestar sighting!

Finally! I saw him! Of course I did not think I was going to see him because the Oscars is on Sunday night and I thought maybe he already left Atlanta for sunny California. But there he was. Very cute! I actually filmed him with my camera, but you can hardly see who it is. Maybe I'll turn into a paparazzi! :)

No work tonight for me. My cold is dragging me down so I'm going to spend the night with Christian. He's leaving me tomorrow so it's nice that we get to hang out. I'm making him shrimp pasta.

Have a great night ya'll!

work work work

Today is going to be nothing but work for me. I'm about to head out to work now and do some babysitting and after that it's just home and change and work at the mall all night. I'm still fighting with this cold so it is going to be a loooong day.

So I guess it's so long for today. Have a great day!

ahhh... home sweet home on a beautiful summer day.

Friends like you are hard to find.

Just came home from lunch with my friend Jessi. So happy to have met her! We talked and talked and I hope to see her again soon. I got a belated b-day gift from her and I'm SO excited about it! A pillow book! Thank you so much Jessi!

New lampshade

Yesterday was a busy day. I went to the fabric store right when they opened their doors and then I worked on making my old lampshade a little fancier. Then I had to take a break and go to work a few hours and then went right back to finish up my lampshade. After that we went to the garden and watered our plants. The lettuce is growing! So excited!

Today I'm off to work and then if I have the energy I might meet my friends for lunch.

I got the idea from another blog I'm reading. I used burlap and first covered the lampshade with the fabric then I cut strips of fabric and hot glued it in a ruffle kind of way.
A close up.
Have a great day!

Magazines..

Is something that I spend way too much money on. I love them though, and I find that they give me inspiration. I especially love home magazines. I bought two magazines today and went outside to a park nearby and sat for an hour reading them. It was very relaxing and although I feel somewhat sick I felt like I needed some fresh air. It was so beautiful here today with blue skies and 20 degrees Celsius. Lovely.

Beautiful flowers

I got these flowers from my hubby on my birthday. I absolutely LOVE them. They look like he just went outside to a field and picked them and brought them in to me. They are so beautiful. I have no idea what kind of flowers they are. Anybody?

Other than that, I'm sick again. Just a cold this time, but it's keeping me tired and stuffy. Trying to keep my spirits up.

Have a great day!

A hug

Today I'd like to send out a hug to my mom. Just because I miss her. And you can never give your mother too many hugs.

Cupcake Party!

I'm pooped. So tired after a long but great day! I had my cupcake party in the park and some friends came over. It was a lot of fun and everything turned out so very cute. Here are some pictures:

There were a lot of cupcakes!
I had vanilla, raspberry, chocolate and brownie cupcakes.
Then all the guest got to bring home some cupcakes in the boxes I made. My husband made some lemonade from scratch that was amazing as well.

Have a "sweet" rest of the night!

Homemade cake stand

I do not have a cute cake stand to put all my baked goodies on and I did not want to go and buy one for money I don't have. So we went to Goodwill (a second hand place) and bought some matching plates of different sizes plus some coffee mugs. I then clued it all together the way I thought looked the cutest. It turned out pretty cute, but most of all cheap! :)

Happy Birthday to me!!

Yes, today I am yet another year older. It hurts a little, I'm now closer to 30 than 20, weird feeling. I have had a great day so far, although I am feeling slightly sick, I think another cold is trying to grab a hold of me.. I'm drinking Emergen-C and trying to fight it. I so want to have my Cupcake Party tomorrow! This morning my hubby woke me up (not really but I was pretending to be asleep) with breakfast in bed. A must being married to a Swede, when that is tradition in my country. I also got my second b-day gift, the first one was received last night after 6pm when in Sweden it was already Feb 19th. After breakfast I spoke to part of my family back home on Skype (thank you to whomever invented that!) and then we went to by myself some awesome new running shoes (1st gift)!

Now, I'm watching a hockey game and making some tissue flowers. Here's how I do it:

I fold it like an accordion. I've used about 6-8 sheets of tissue paper for each flower
Then I cut the ends to look a little more like a flower petal and I also use floral wire to tie it together in the middle
With the floral wire attached
Then just pull apart the layers of tissue paper to get the "fluffy" look
Finished!

Have a wonderful rest of this Feb 19th!

cupcake boxes

I wanted to post these cupcake boxes that I plan for people to bring some leftover cupcakes in so I don't have to eat them all by myself. I bought the boxes at the local craft store and then I just googled quotes on sweets and dessert and picked the ones I likes the most and stamped them on the side of the boxes. I think it is a sweet idea and I hope this party will happen on Sunday. Yeah, I found out today that I'm working on Sunday. Buuu. I don't know how I will fix this situation. I'm going to try and find someone to switch with me, but it is such short notice.. We'll see. Anyhow, these are the cupcake boxes:

I'm planning on tying a ribbon around it and attach this label I made.

Tissue Flowers

I made these yesterday for my party. I'll post a tutorial on how I made them later on.

Just came home from work, started babysitting for a new little baby today. She was very cute and we had fun. Back again next week. Yay!

Today I may bake some more cupcakes and I think I have to run over to our garden and water our onions and lettuce. It has been pretty warm here lately so I'm sure they are thirsty.

In my kitchen...

...this is happening at the moment:

chocolate and vanilla cupcakes are done!

Cupcake time!

Yes, just came home from running errands all morning and now I'm going to spend some time with Leila making cupcakes. :) I really hope people want to come to my party on Sunday, otherwise we'll have cupcakes to last for years... No one has replied yet, would it not be sooo sad if no one could make it?

Hope you are all having a great day!

Birthday Party

I'm planning my birthday party as of about 5pm this afternoon. I'm so last minute I know, but I will succeed. I have a vision of how I want it to be of course, but I don't know if it'll happen that way. I'm going to try really hard though, to make it as romantic and {sweet} like all the pictures I've been looking at online for the last few hours. This would be my ideal situation:

But since we have no place like this of our own, I'm thinking a park near by could do it. It is suppose to be beautiful on Sunday so that's when it'll take place. I'm going to make lots and lots of cupcakes, so it'll be nothing but sweets at the party. I'm also making some banners and tissue paper flowers that I'm going to put up to make it cute and cozy.

We'll see if I manage to pull it off. I work a lot leading up to Sunday, so wish me luck! Maybe I'll put my hubby to work. :)

I got my inspiration from this wonderful recipe book. It's a Swedish baker that I absolutely LOVE. This books has the  most amazing pictures.

Sov Gott! (Sleep tight)

homemade birthday cards

I made this card today for my aunt who's birthday is coming up. She does not read my blog, therefore it is safe for me to put it up here. :)

It says Happy Birthday to the best aunt in the world
I bought some stamps today at the craft store, love them!
made my own seal on the back of the envelope

Now. Out in the beautiful spring weather.

New Day

Off all day, which is so nice after having worked so much lately. I have some errands I want to do today. I have a return to H&M and I think I may stop by IKEA on the way home. I think that have got succulents for sale there and I'm thinking I'm going to try and buy some of them when any attempt to other flowers seem to die in this house. It must be the house, what else could it be..? I was reading my Better Homes & Garden's magazine and they had some pretty arrangements pictures of succulents, so I'm thinking I'm going to attempt to do one myself.

Have a wonderful day!

My last lovey dovey post for today

Just came home from our Valentine's dinner. I took my husband out to a Mexican restaurant he has wanted  to go to for a really long time. It was delicious! I had a Burrito covered with cheese sauce, so I'm very full at the moment. But I'm thinking that in an hour or so I'll be up for some ice cream. We have been buying this amazing ice cream from Publix, it is called Buckeye Fudge. It's a limited edition one, so unfortunately it'll be gone in a while. We're planning on stocking up on it. Try it!

This is what was waiting on my husband when he walked through the door:
I wrapped it in some tissue paper and some yarn and made a last minute card out of some scrap paper.

Okay, enough of this loove-stuff. Tomorrow is just another day. Back to normal. :)

Things I love

I love this man (although he mixes things up sometimes and it makes me mad):

B.H.I.D.W

That is short for: Best Hubby In Da World. And I happen to have him. After a long weekend of working he made me a delicious tapas dinner and in about an hour we're going somewhere, but it is a surprise. I'm excited, although very tired, but I'm sure it'll wake me up whatever it is.

I hope you all had a wonderful week. Ahead of us is now a long week. A week that is filled with work again. But I should not complain, I could be sitting here without one.

Bye!

work again!

Yes, this weekend is going to be about nothing but work. First I worked in the garden this morning and early afternoon and then I changed from my garden stained clothes to my sales associates clothes and off to the mall I went. Just came home and now my hubby is making me some food. After that I think we're going to snuggle up in the couch before bedtime and then it is up tomorrow morning to go work again.

Did I say I want this weekend to be over? Fast? Well, I do. I like the money it is making us and I enjoy my jobs but it is so much nicer to be off.

Have a wonderful evening!

work work work

Yes, today has been a long day of work. Started at 10am this morning and I am still here and the clock has just passed 10pm. So ready to be done and go home. It has been a great day though. These girls are the most wonderful little things. I love them so so much and it is so fun to be a part of their lives.

No movie star spotting today either. Maybe next Friday.

Sleep tight.

Happy Friday!

Sitting in my couch listening to a very very southern man fixin' with our air conditioning. Both my hubby and me are at home and we're sitting with our computers, me blogging and my hubby working, typing away. But the southern gentleman is just talking and talking with his thick southern accent. :)

About to go to work, babysitting. I hoping to spot some hot movie stars in the carpool line this afternoon when they are in town filming a movie. Cross your fingers for me!

Have a great Friday. The weekend is almost here! I have to work ALL weekend which I'm not terrible excited about when it is suppose to be beautiful outside.. But I guess I need the money.

my Swedish cookies that did not turn out that great...

Valentine's Day Craft

Here are some pictures of my Valentine's Day project I have been working on:

I chose these colors for my pom pom's

Making my pom pom's with a little help from a cut out cardboard piece. This take the longest time, the stringing goes on and on... When you feel you have the right amount of thickness just take a scissor and cut along the outer edge of the circle. When it is all cut leave the yarn on the circle while you tie a string around the pieces of yarn to keep them from falling everywhere. Then pull of the cardboard circle and you have yourself a pom pom!

I then went outside and picked up some sticks and attached the pom pom's on the sticks with some help from my glue gun. I think it turned out pretty darn cute!
